Basak, Badian to Osmeña Peak

Last January 23, 2016, was one of my dream full-filled treks to the mountains. It was my first time going out to enjoy Mother Nature and take photos. While we were heading to our destination to camp, it really took as 4 hours and 43 minutes to arrive and it was really so tiring because I don’t have lots of stamina like an athlete have. My only advantage is; I always go to the gym for weight lifting and I don’t do jogging to enhance my stamina. And the last time I was in the gym was 2 months ago, and the muscle pain from the trek is not really major pain, still manageable. ^_^

Check below for a short timeline of our trek.

In this trek, we are 17 individuals and most of them are an experience trekker. Before we started our trek, prayer for safety will always be done first. The dog is not included in the team. Hahaha! 😀

As a first time trekker, the view of Badian Island look’s really good and it is even look amazing if you can really see the whole island from a different vantage point.

From this vantage point, it was our second stop to take a rest and to regroup. While waiting for others, we didn’t expect that one our team fainted from the first stop. He fainted because it was already 5 months since his last trek and without exercise but that was just the start of his big challenge.

It's been so long since I have this cracker in my life. Not sure how it was but I just couldn't remember.

Finally in this part of the trek, we got a good rest under the trees! And going in our destination place will be a good trek because it’s going to be shaded but with an inclined walk to our next stop. Still going to need those leg muscle and with proper breathing rhythm.

Another stop for the group because the inclined trek really did use up a lot of our stamina. So a stop is needed to regroup and take a rest.

I hate this track, walking in a plain inclined track is very tiring in the leg.

We are now almost at Osmeña Peak. It’s 5:44PM and the sun is almost gone. My mindset was to take photos of at the peak in Sunset and I wasn’t thinking of stopping and just take photos somewhere here in this side of the mountain.

Almost there at the peak and I’m so happy that we are able to arrive safe. The trek was really enjoyable and I was so happy to pursue this kind of opportunity. Thanks to my wife for approving my trek.

The last two images above are the only shot I was able to capture. Because our trekking phase was not really that fast and we had a lot of stop, I wasn’t able to take very nice sunset photos. Even though I was only able to capture blue hour, it is still worth-it. Soon, I will be back there to take another photos and I’m going to make sure there will be sunset and a milky-way to share for everyone. Why not take a look again of camping under the moon photo below.

Soon in the next post, I will be sharing our traverse trek to Kawasan Falls. By the way, a tip for a first timer who want to experience this kind of trek, be prepared with all the things needed in the camp and exercise for a month or two, so you won’t experience lots of muscle pain or getting sick after the trek if your body is not in a good condition for a very long trek.
