Wedding Tips 101: The Church

As a Cebu based wedding photographer, I’ve experience almost all good church here in Cebu City. Two of my favorite is the Redemptorist, Sacred Heart and San Pedro Calungsod. If you’re on a budget, try to know where you were baptized first. Or better get married in that church so you can save time and it’s less hustle. And to be precise in each detail, I will arrange the tips in order.

The Rate

This is important if you’re on a budget. Always ask about the rates and what their terms are.

The Rules

Many churches are strict when it comes to decors and attire. Disobeying the rules or the coordinator will be given a warning or might be blacklisted.

Under repair

If the church is under repair, it is important to not book the church and find another one that will look good in your photos. Me and my wife already experience it and we don’t like mostly all of the photos in the church because it was under repair and even if they promise you that they will removed all the bars standing inside the church that was used to repair, the truth is, they will not remove all of it. They will just keep it standing there for being lazy to bring it down or to ruin your wedding photos.

The Priest

There is some church priest that doesn’t like female entourage showing their shoulders inside the church. So might think as well about the attire for your female entourage because it already happens in a wedding that all female entourage was told to get out in the church because for them it’s inappropriate. If you like fancy attire for the female entourage it’s a great advantage If you have a relative or friend that is a priest, try to approach if he is available for your wedding and try to tell him in advanced about your color motif and attire.

The lighting inside the Church

This one is also very important, especially for the photo and video. Why? There are many advantages to have wonderful photos and video if lighting inside the church is not too warm and not too dark. Try also to ask some advice with your videographer or photographer about churches, because some church does not look good for your photo and video because of the lighting that adds an odd color to your skin.

The Architectural Design

If you like classic architectural designs, you can book in Cebu Cathedral Church. The only thing isn’t good about the church; it’s expensive for weddings because of the architectural design but bad in lighting for too much warm. It might be good for the eye but in terms of photo and video, it isn’t. If you’re okay with warm color, book the church because Cebu Cathedral is very in demand for weddings.

Church Inclusion

Some church has an inclusion options like air-condition, flowers and other things needed in the church. If you’re on a budget, don’t get any of the inclusions. What’s important is having your ceremony in the church.

With all of the lists, make sure to ask questions before you proceed with all the necessary things for your wedding and also set a meeting with all your wedding suppliers and ask for some advice.
