As an Engagement and post-wedding photographer, I personally take the pictures during the session. Some couples now use a coordinator or a stylist to take charge of the themes/ locations/ wardrobe choices during the shoots. Or, you can just ask a friend(s) to accompany you. Whatever works for both of you is okay with me.
In every weddings I have photograph, most couples opt for engagement or post-wedding sessions because the pictures are usually used in the save-the-dates, invitations, guest books, wedding websites, etc. Usually engagement and post-wedding sessions are taken at different locations, meant to capture the couple in different ways.
Meanwhile post-wedding shoots are done a day, a week, or even months after the wedding. The advantage of having a post-wedding than a pre-wedding is that it’s less stressful for the couple since the wedding preparations are all done. Most couples are more relaxed after the wedding, and it can be just as fun as a pre-wedding. You can use your post-wedding pictures for the thank you cards or as post-wedding souvenirs.
